‘The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are’

Whilst having a sort through box files recently, I found my yoga teacher training final presentation and was reminded with joy of the reason why I included this quote from the late great Jim Morrison ..

It was reminder to always be true to my self in order to be the best teacher I could be and encourage others to find their truest selves through the practice of yoga like I had .

In many ways yoga has been my sanctuary . Having trained as an actress in my early twenties , I learned at drama school about how exciting wearing a metaphorical mask could be ! We were encouraged to delve deep into various aspects of our personalities and use feelings that could be drawn on , then honed and fine tuned like instruments in order to use for embodying a character . Truly great actors like Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep do this with such ease , you can’t help but watch them in each role and believe they are that person , but even they have to go home at the end of each day and return back to themselves. Perhaps by practicing yoga, meditating or simply just sitting quietly, as whatever your Role is in life you can’t play it continually on a loop .

Yoga has the capacity to bring us back to who we truly are , and it’s often found in the space where time stands still between the inhalation and exhalation , we can feel like we’re becoming one with everything and even if it’s just for a moment or two absolute clarity comes and we are free in mind body and soul .. You could say that perhaps what’s happening in our world right now began as a personal revolution from Mother Nature, which has now turned into a large scale revolution that leaves us no option but to stop in our tracks to listen and observe the ebb and flow of life’s on natural rhythm .

If perhaps collectively we can begin to work together with each other alongside Mother Nature, we can help to restore a healthy planet not just for ourselves but also for future generations of all life on Earth 🌍💚🙏
